Welcome to our travel blog, about the fascinating history of New Orleans, or as some call it the "Big easy"!

New Orleans was founded in 1718 by Jean Baptiste Le Moyne, Sieur de Bienville. At its start, New Orleans served as a trading community that followed along the curves of the east bank. This little trading community would soon became a continental hub for world trade. This is what contributed to New Orleans rich and unique history.

Michaela Leonardo Antoine Almonester Ms. Almonester funded and built two identical buildings on Jackson Square. The Jackson monument is in between the two buildings. Rumor has it that Andrew Jackson and Almonester were lovers. Almonester was a very rich woman and funded much of the architect in the city of New Orleans. She was such a powerful figure, the statue of Andrew Jackson is said to have been faced towards her buildings in remembrance for her devotion to him and to the city. http://neworleanshistorical.org/items/show/623?tour=56&index=1 Louis Armstrong A founding father to jazz, Armstrong is known for his unique singing voice and his trumpet skills. He was a prominent musician when Jazz first came on the scene in New Orleans. Since Armstrong, there have been numerous famous Jazz musicians.
