Shipping

New Orleans Port is key in receiving and transporting good all across the world. Since New Orleans is right on the Mississippi, shipping was vital in the development of the United States and continues to this day. Without the Port of New Orleans, we could not get commodities like oil and food.  New Orleans is crucial for importing and exporting of goods from all over the world.  This was important factor in the war of 1812.  At this time the United states were at war with the british.  The british were going to try and gain control of the port city to control the trade of goods.  The  plans were to block the mouth of the mississippi and hault the trade route.  The British would attack on January 8th and would be defeted by they US under the orders of Andrew Jackson.

Higgins boats

During WWII, there was a constant demand for boats, ammunition, and aircraft. One such company was up to the task for production demands. That company was Higgins Industries. Mr. Higgins's most produced product was the landing craft used in amphibious assaults such has D-Day.  His boats would go on to win major battles for the US and its allies. Without these boats, WWII may not have ended, Germany may have won. These boats were vital to the storming and capturing Normandy.
